Hytera is a commercial manufacturer who made a good entrance into the amateur market but has since lost it’s “foot in the door”. It seems that they have followed Motorola in focusing on their commercial side.
Hytera have a good range of handhelds, mobiles and even a palm size model. A popular mobile model was the MD655. This had no display on the radio as it was incorporated into the speaker mic of which you could have a wired or bluetooth version. This made it easy to hide the radio unit out of sight, such as under the seat – it did have to be reachable in order to press the power button. The bluetooth mic included a holder which was also a charger.
ML&S are possibly the only UK vendor still selling Hytera DMR radios howver all models seem to be out of stock at the end of April 2020.
